Between the vendors, venues, and adornments; it can seem like the number of items and services vying for a part of your wedding or corporate party budget are endless. Whether you are planning a small backyard wedding or party in Frederick or inviting 200 guests to celebrate in one of the many wedding venues in the Harrisburg | Lancaster area, here are a few tips to save serious cash.
Repurpose your ceremony flowers! Start by using your beautiful blooms to decorate your aisle for the ceremony. After the nuptials, transfer your arrangements to the reception for jaw dropping table centerpieces.
Speaking of centerpieces, there are many ideas available on Pintrest and Google to create attractive and interesting centerpieces using items other than costly flowers; one example that we have seen used at several Central PA weddings is incorporating old books.
Seated and served dinners are nice but opting for a buffet-style for your catering can save some serious cash! Having wait staff can really inflate the bill. Not only will choosing the buffet save you money, you can likely use a portion of that savings to offer a better quality meal and still have funds left for that Photo Booth that will be so much fun!
While on the subject of catering, we don’t cater but we know lots of people who do. It pays to shop around. In the Frederick and Harrisburg area there are many locally owned businesses providing catering for wedding receptions, parties, and corporate events. Many of these folks are passionate about their craft and will not sacrifice quality or portion size in order to satisfy the profit demands of the franchise owner. Mission BBQ is pretty good but trust me, you can do much better in terms of quality and likely cost if you know whom to ask.
Find a venue that allows you to bring your own alcohol. Not paying retail per drink prices will save you a huge amount of money! Simply shop for venues that allow you to provide the alcohol, hire a certified server or two, and you are on your way! Or make a Sam's trip and simply serve your favorite wine & beer. If you want to really elevate the experience, create a signature wedding drink or three!
Make your wedding reception your own by adding a touch of your personality! Whether it's through wedding favors, origami napkin folds, or a choreographed dance there are a multitude of ways to create your vibe that cost little or no money at all.

5) Wedding Planner:
If you have more time than money consider planning the wedding yourself. In the digital age that we are living in, there are many resources that are only a click away. Your vendors are a great resource for information. Blogs, Pintrest, Facebook Groups; all of these can help take the mystery and stress out of planning a wedding reception or major event.
