As a very active DJ Service and Photo Booth rental company in Central PA we are seeing a lot of indicators that there are going to be a lot of couples planning weddings in the Lancaster | Harrisburg | Hershey areas that we serve. With the year being 2020 there are a lot of really cool dates for those who are into the numerology thing.
As with anything most of us when planning have to start with a budget. Once the budget is established, it becomes time to allocate it, and there seems to be no end to the amount of advice out there in terms of what the budget should be spent on.
The national site Zola recently published results of a survey completed by people who were recently in your shoes and were planning a wedding. Here are their findings based on the 750 brides who completed the survey.

I could end this blog here and sum it up by saying “There is your list of what items most important to the success of your Lancaster Wedding Reception and what to spend more or less money on.” I don’t think that would be as helpful as it could be so I decided to dig a bit deeper and find ways to save so that you can get the most bang for your buck.
Ways to save money on your Lancaster Wedding!
A little bit of floral can go a long way! Trying to duplicate the look that you see on nearly every wedding website can easily create a tab of $3,500 - $5,000. I love flowers as much as the next person but I personally don’t see the value when there are many less costly ways to create the aesthetic.
Check out the Pinterest “Wedding Flowers” boards. Seek out some small florists who are looking to build their portfolio. They likely will have lower prices. Other options beyond the DIY are grocery store chains such as Giant, Costco, and Whole Foods.
Skip the poured Champagne Toast and allow your guests to raise their glasses with what they are already drinking. By the time the toast happens everyone has been seated and is enjoying a beverage so most will never notice anyway.
Think about it this way, that sip of Champagne will last only a few seconds. For about the same cost of you can add a photo booth that they can enjoy the entire night and have photos and memories to take with them. If your guests were voting, which do you think they’d rather have?
This is an extremely easy way to save money. On line sites such a Minted offer a variety of budget friendly invitations. There are also a variety of DIY resources to create fancy e-vites which will also send day of reminders to your guests along with directions and drive time estimates.
Most invitations will not be saved by your guests beyond the event so this savings will easily cover more important elements such as uplighting .
Thanking your guests for is a nice thing to do and you definitely should. It is very easy to go over the top. Definitely check out Pinterest for DIY ideas. If you are opting for the photo booth you wedding favor could be an acrylic photo strip holder.
