How to Make Your Own Wedding Hashtag
As with many of the questions being answered in this blog series the decision to have a hashtag is totally up to you. It is a fun way to share photos of your awesome Washington DC wedding! That said, as with month things in life, there are pros and cons.
Social media a major part of our daily lives. It allows regular people to have “red carpet” moments. Even if you are the type of person who posts photos everyday weddings are the one occasion when it is acceptable to draw attention to yourself.
Often when we think of a wedding hashtag we immediately think of the big day. While that is certainly the finale and what all of this is building up to there are tons of other photographic opportunities. From the engagement photos to the bachelorette party, and of course the big day, a personal hashtag will help everyone share in the fun.
It is understandable and common that the most intimate moment, the wedding ceremony; is an unplugged event. Unplugged ceremonies are increasingly popular, as a response to the number of people who have their phones out during the vow exchange. If you desire an unplugged ceremony, a sign is the best way to politely get the point across. At cocktail hour, you can make it clear that photos are now a fair game with a complementary sign displaying the hashtag.
A hashtag can have many benefits even if you don’t want electronics used at the ceremony itself. More than a cute saying for you to add to your pictures – it collects all the photos together for you and your loved ones to see. A unique hashtag for each event means that whenever you want, you can go to Instagram or Facebook, search the tag, and relive all the memories – which could be especially useful for the bachelorette party!
