Frederick Wedding - 10 Step Checklist For The Perfect Maryland Wedding

Scheduling calendar for a Frederick MD wedding venue.

At Perfect Harmony Entertainment, we are always looking for ways to help couples and clients plan amazing events. While we offer wedding DJ Services only to the areas of Harrisburg, Lancaster, York as well as Frederick MD, Leesburg VA, and Washington DC; our goal is to be a resource to any couple who might be planning a wedding.

While 99% of the content on our blog is original, this is an article that I saved from a wedding photographer. Unfortunately, I don’t recall who I got it from to give credit but, with many couples now planning for their weddings in Lancaster PA, in Frederick MD, and across the country; I thought this would be a great time to share these wedding planning tips.

  1. Before you set a wedding date research the historical rain records as well as the sunset times. This will give you a good idea of the possibility of rain and the best wedding ceremony time so that you time the sunset photos perfectly.

  2. Work on your wedding guest list. This will help you select an appropriately sized wedding venue. Your guest list is also critical in setting your wedding budget.

  3. Start researching and booking vendors immediately. Many couples plan their wedding a year or more in advance. Some wedding vendors work solo, so they are only capable of working at one wedding per day.

  4. As you interview venues make sure to ask about access to the venue. Some venues will restrict access to vendors allowing them only 90 minutes or so to set up. Many vendors are single operators with limited staff. Floral décor, lighting, and sound are just a few of the things that take time to complete. Things can happen faster with more people but keep in mind that in the end, you will be paying for the extra staff to pull your event together in 90 minutes.

  5. Book a planner or a day-of wedding coordinator to help you organize all your wedding details and create a flexible timeline. Another good source for a timeline is your wedding DJ.

  6. Book your hair and makeup four to six months in advance and make sure your clear on where the hair and makeup application will take place.

  7. Book decent sized hotel rooms or bridal suites for the best getting ready images possible and keep clutter to a minimum. A wedding day story starts during the time the bride and groom are getting prepared for their ceremony.

  8. Schedule your bridal party to arrive early on the big day to get ready for hair and makeup. You do not want to start this day behind schedule. Build a little cushion so that if they run a bit late, they will be on time. Being behind schedule can cause stress and this day should be all about fun!

  9. If you plan to provide meals for your vendors, make sure that they are served their meals when the Bridal Party is served their meal. You want your photographer to be available to capture all the action. If they are served after the guests there is a chance that they may miss something as you will have likely finished eating by the time they have been served.

  10. Hydrate and eat something before the ceremony to avoid passing out from stress, dehydration, or the summer heat. There is nothing scarier than a bride or groom passing out because they went out the night before drinking and are running on an empty stomach and dehydrated.
