What To Know When Planning Your Wedding Ceremony?

While this entire portion of your celebration is collectively referred to as the Wedding Ceremony, it is actually made of three parts in terms of music planning: The Prelude, Processional, and The Recessional.

The fourth part is the actual ceremony itself and the exchanging of vows, which is by far the most important part.

I doubt that you need any assistance with that one, so I will focus on creating the best DJ Playlist for the three other aforementioned parts.

The Prelude

This is the half hour before the Ceremony as your guests are arriving for the celebration. Generally this involves guests arriving intermittently unless being transported from their place of lodging. There is generally light conversation as family and friends introduce themselves and converse quietly.

The most popular musical choices for this portion of the event are instrumental arrangements. Occasionally this means classical orchestral pieces from Bach and Mozart. More often the choice is Vitamin String Quartet or The Piano Guys. These types of artists perform contemporary songs such as “A Thousand Years” in a classical style.

This is an excellent musical choice because it does not require guests to compete with the vocals of the song when conversing and it also keeps those not engaged in conversation listening intently as they attempt to be the first to guess the name of the song that is playing.

Vitamin String Quartet type music is very popular with the guests. We often receive compliments when playing these types of wedding ceremony selections.

The Processional

This is the portion of the event where all eyes are on the Bride and the Bridal Party. Traditional selections include songs like “Canon in D”, “Thousand Years”, or “All of Me”. One thing to keep in mind especially if you decide to use more than one song, is that you will only play a portion of the song. Depending on the length of the walk, it is typically less than two minutes.

Festive Recessional

You did it! You and your partner are newlyweds. It’s time to celebrate!

This is the perfect time to play the chorus of an uplifting song to cap off the moment!

There are so many tunes that fit the occasion “Sign, Sealed, Delivered”, “Best Day of My Life”, and “You Make My Dreams” are just a few that will help your guests get pumped for the festivities ahead.
